Description:

SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST

Our Boston-based client in the Fintech space is looking for a Data Scientist to analyze large amounts of data and build data products to extract valuable business insights. This role requires strong theoretical knowledge of mathematics and statistics, experience manipulating complex datasets, and knowledge on how to select and evaluate the right machine learning model for the right problem. Critical thinking skills and passion for machine learning and research are key. Candidates with experience in risk modeling, credit scoring, fraud detection, or financial consulting are preferred. This is a direct hire position that can be remote, but a Boston-based candidate who can work onsite in Brookline 3 days per week would be ideal.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee data collection, preprocessing, and analysis
  • Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes
  • Manage preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
  • Analyze large amounts of information to identify trends and patterns
  • Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
  • Combine models through ensemble modeling
  • Build scalable models to address business problems and use cases
  • Propose strategies and solutions to business challenges
  • Present information using data visualization techniques
  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Data Scientist and experience with data mining; Risk Management, Financial Consulting and/or Fintech background strongly preferred
  • Must have strong skills and experience with SQL and Python
  • Experience using business intelligence tools and data frameworks
  • Familiarity with at least one popular python-based machine learning framework
  • Understanding of machine learning and operations research
  • Analytical mind and business acumen
  • Strong theoretical knowledge and command of various mathematics (e.g., statistics, algebra)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
