JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State IT Business Technology Solutions seeks a full-time Senior Database Administrator for the management and maintenance of Physical Plant (OPP) and Auxiliary and Business Services (ABS) mission-critical Oracle databases.
This position will be responsible for setting up, maintaining and managing Oracle databases as well as providing Oracle expertise and assistance to partner units. Duties will include the creation and setup of new database servers, patching and maintenance of existing database servers, scheduling and verifying backups, handling data recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, creation of backend scripts, processes, and automations, and technical support for SQL questions from database users.
A successful applicant will be familiar with supporting high availability Oracle deployments in a Linux environment and will have knowledge of and experience with Oracle RAC, Active Data Guard, ASM, OEM, ADDM, RMAN, SQL Developer, and TOAD, as well as experience with PL/SQL programming.
Experience supporting Windows Oracle deployments, as well as additional database platforms including SQLServer and PostgreSQL is a plus.
This position is intended for full-time remote work with the expectation that all performance goals are being met or exceeded every review period. The selected candidate will be someone that can work independently, manage multiple schedules, provide clear and open communications and share knowledge to others, as needed.
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
