Description:

Our Defined Contribution Consulting (DCC) Business Unit works with all types of DC Pension schemes to provide advice on investment strategy, portfolio construction and implementation, as well as working with product providers and retail advisors to deliver the latest investment proposition innovation.
This offering is a key component of our consulting services and helps firmly establish us as a UK market leader in this area. Our diverse client base for these services spans both corporate and trustee bodies across a wide variety of business and industry sectors, as well as local government pension schemes and other public sector clients.
We have an exciting opportunity to join this Business Unit as a Senior DC Investment Consultant, and we are excited to welcome applications for this.

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL YOUR ROLE LOOK LIKE?

As a Senior DC Investment Consultant you will be a key member of our DC Business Unit. You’ll play a lead role in the provision of a high-quality investment consultancy service to our variety of trustee and corporate clients, and will be passionate about using innovation to help our teams to improve the investment propositions and strategies that we provide.
Drawing on your understanding of the DC Market you will have significant involvement in winning new business and introducing our firm to prospective clients (including preparing and leading pitch teams, contributing to new ideas, tender completions, and pitch presentations). You’ll also maintain active relationships with and provide advice to our existing portfolio of clients – further developing these accounts by introducing services from across our firm (not just the DCC Investment offering) where appropriate.
This role comes with visibility across the firm and the wider DC pensions and investment marketplace. You will be enthusiastic about contributing new ideas on our services and approaches to help enhance the longer-term future of our client offering. As a role model for colleagues, you will develop strong working relationships with those within your Business Unit and beyond to help lead our client teams across practices.

TO ENJOY AND SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Relevant experience of working within the Pensions Consultancy industry, with experience and knowledge of the market for DC schemes in the UK;
  • Awareness of the investment options used by DC arrangements, with an understanding/experience of providing strategic advice in relation to portfolio construction, glidepath development, RI/ESG, private markets and decumulation strategies;
  • Experience of building long-term relationships with and providing high-quality investment advice to clients
  • Strong commercial awareness of the pensions and employee benefits market, and an enthusiasm for keeping up to date with topical matters arising within this;
  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated through your ability to consult and influence successfully with stakeholders;
  • A flexible, innovative approach to developing solutions for our clients and be enthused by the opportunity to solve complex problems for them;
  • The ability to work well as part of a team, and lead by example with a motivational, hands-on approach, including supporting with the coaching and development of junior colleagues within your Business Unit;
  • The ability to work with large sets of detailed data and other forms of information;
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately;
  • The flexibility to travel to client and other Hymans Robertson offices when required.
    We expect those that are interested in this role to be FFA/FIA or CFA qualified (or be close to achieving this), preferably being authorised to give investment advice (either following one of these qualification paths or having an alternative qualification/experience).
    A more detailed list of requirements for this position is available within the role profile – which is available on request.
