Role Overview:
The DataScope suite of applications is part of our Pricing and Reference Service business. It is a respected application used in the wider finance industry where clients can do downloads of Pricing and Reference data in customized and standardized reports. The application has ~1200 external clients who consume financial data to analyse funds and the market position of global industry players.
In this role, you will be joining our Enterprise Data Solutions as a Senior Development Manager: serving the entire spectrum of data needs across asset classes, latency and delivery mechanisms including real-time data and news, reference, and legal entity data.
We are looking for someone who:
Is as comfortable with consulting with senior business managers on application requirements as they are with talking with developers. Well-used to delivered requirement functionality into application development plans, and supervising application development stages to ensure best practise and exceptional quality standards.
To ensure success as a Development Manager, you should exhibit extensive application development knowledge and experience in evaluating business needs. A top-notch application candidate will be someone whose expertise in application architecture and leadership skills..

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with senior managers to determine business-specific application needs.
  • Leading the application development team and supervising the design, testing, and modification stages in conjunction with the Head of Quality Assurance.
  • Provides technical leadership to serve as point of escalation, review, and approval for key issues, significant projects, and decisions.
  • Liaising with team members, management, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard.
  • Demonstrating application prototypes and integrating user feedback.
  • Identifying risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and developments.
  • Being transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes.
  • Improving technical solutions to make them more stable and maintainable.
  • Contribute to the writing of documentation and release notes in conformance with company standards.
  • Motivating staff and creating a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns.

Required Skills:

  • Significant experience with Java.
  • Experience with cloud (AWS - preferred. AWS architecture including EC2, FSX, RDS etc.).
  • Some experience with Oracle database skills.
  • Modern development practices – scrum, CI/CD, BDD, automation, Infrastructure as Code (Ansible).
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams in a Product Engineering capacity.
  • Demonstrable experience of solutions design and delivery.
  • Experience with Agile Project management or Highly Iterative Project Methodology experience.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent people skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have skills:

  • Experience with financial market data and/or financial market products.
  • Experience with .Net or C++
