Description:

DEPARTMENT: REGENERATION & HOUSING

Bath & North East Somerset Council seeks an ambitious Senior Development Officer to join the Regeneration team. In this career graded post, the successful candidate will be able to progress towards a principal grade within the role on delivery of key milestones, and the post will be extended on successful award of future grant funding.
The Regeneration team has secured over £24m in project delivery funding over the last three years and is now progressing a range of ambitious regeneration schemes in Bath city centre and the nearby towns of Keynsham, Midsomer Norton and Radstock.
The Regeneration Team is excited to be working with Heritage Services to support the delivery of a new Fashion Museum in Bath’s Milsom Quarter and to help facilitate the delivery a Fashion Collection Archive as part of the plan for a new Creative Quarter.
Your role will be to act as a senior project officer, commissioning and overseeing delivery of a range of major commercial and development projects, within the Regeneration team – working with key clients including Heritage Services and partner organisations. You will be able to demonstrate how you can bring your knowledge and experience in planning, urban design or a related field to complex regeneration development lifecycle, including procurement, masterplanning, business case writing, engagement and consultation, land acquisition and planning/development delivery.
Activities will involve working as part of a project team to commission and develop redevelopment schemes for key sites, working on concept plans and outline and full planning applications. You will engage with the development industry to commission and secure high quality development outcomes in Bath and North East Somerset in accordance with the Council’s Vision & Values, Strategy, Policy, and other objectives.
We are particularly looking for candidates with strong project management skills who are keen to work on funding bids, investment plans and design development to help shape projects such as the Bath Fashion Museum and Creative Quarter.
Bath & North East Somerset lies between the Cotswold and Mendip areas of outstanding natural beauty. The city of Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built around Britain’s only thermal springs.
This role offers the opportunity for flexible working, with a combination of working from home and office working. Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
