Description:

The Trust has set a clear direction to ensure the effective and efficient use of the technology and digital information in place, to improve the quality of care, patient safety, and creation of efficiencies. The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) is an integral part of this strategy and will transform how the clinical teams function. The Senior Digital Nurse role will support the development and implementation of the EPR, which is the Trusts electronic patient record solution. The Senior Digital Nurses will work very closely with the Chief Nursing Information Officer, Benefits Lead, the EPR team and clinical and nursing teams within the clinical environment to understand the current ways of working with the goal of supporting the delivery of the EPR across the Trust.
Will work with the Chief Nursing Information Officer, Benefits Lead, the EPR team and clinical and nursing teams within the clinical environment to understand the current ways of working with the goal of supporting the delivery of the EPR across the Trust. Will assist in the training for all Clinical teams. This will include the production of training materials on system functionality as well as working with the Nursing Education teams to ensure the systems, solutions and processes are embedded safely across the organisation. Will support the Clinical teams in the new ways of working ensuring they are able to adopt the new solutions.
This will include taking on-board feedback and working with the system configuration teams to enable system change as required. Will provide floor walking support as the new processes become embedded within the Trust. This will include key go-live support as well as ad-hoc visits to areas requiring specialist support. Will analyse inpatient and outpatient work practices, working with our Clinical teams supporting changes to process to achieve increased efficiency and enhanced clinical effectiveness through the DCR Will work with clinical, nursing, operational management and support teams across the wider Trust and NHS, As an ambassador of the profession, you will ensure clinical practice, supported by digital technology, supports professional standards and that functionality deployed adheres to / supports practitioners professional standards e.g.
the Nursing and Midwifery Council Knowledge Skills & Experience: Be knowledgeable in clinical processes and have the vision to adapt paper-based processes to a digital format. Be knowledgeable about current infection control procedures and policies and ensure all staff and visitors always adhere to these. Be knowledgeable about the risks of infection and take responsibility for minimising cross infection within the clinical environment. Ensure that the digitisation of patient care is evidence based and that the patients journey is streamlined and supported through the digital solutions proposed.
Support the development and implement of digital patient pathways as appropriate. Use a wide range of knowledge base and sources to determine time required factors of assessment or admission, including the most appropriate and safe patient pathway. Identify and define digital alerting systems that include assessments, and suggest appropriate digital interventions and solutions at any point on the pathway including discharge when patients are no longer meeting the agreed appropriate and safe patient pathway. Assess and act upon potential problems or issues to ensure a safe, effective digital environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Identify, analyse, and act upon staff situations when there is conflict and / or deviation from Trust or local policies and procedures. Understand change management techniques and methodologies and be able to adapt the approach to a wide range of stakeholders. Identify, track and analyse benefits of any clinical information system or process for patients and families, staff and the service. General Duties: Understand and act as a champion for the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
Work with the multi-disciplinary team to streamline care and shorten patient length of stay through the implementation of digital solutions. Work with the multi-disciplinary team to enable electronic discharge processes Participate in Directorate / Departmental meetings and lead on digital discussions with clinical peers Be involved in practice development and patient experience issues and able to describe how the digital solutions can make a positive impact on the patient experience Oversee the digitisation of set patient care programmes in accordance with agreed policies, using experience and skills. Ensure that safe and effective nursing care is delivered, this to be in accordance with trust policies and best practice guidelines, also practice in accordance with your Professional Code Act as a role model when carrying out and demonstrating digital solutions. Provide expert advice and support to colleagues on digital solutions Support the clinical teams by ensuring the digitisation of written patient information can be captured in the DCR.
This includes appropriate workflow management Provide professional leadership including motivation of staff regarding the use of digital technology The post holder will represent the department at local and Trust wide meetings as required. The Senior Digital Nurse will be accessible and visible to staff and be able to demonstrate an understanding of how digital technology can support safer care.
