Description:

Job Description:
Lead our Biotherapeutic Screening department
Would you like to lead a department deeply involved in building our early research portfolio of monoclonal antibodies and other biotherapeutic modalities? Are you excited to join a truly global organization with close collaboration between discovery and development?
“We are constantly expanding our Biotherapeutic Screening department’s science and discovery capabilities to accelerate drug discovery and to secure a smooth transfer of biotherapeutics candidates to the development stage,” says Lisbeth Fink, VP of Discovery Therapeutics.
You can look forward to working at our state-of-the-art International PharmaScience Center (IPC) in Copenhagen, where we have invested in the newest laboratory technology, including laboratory automation, high-content imaging, and advanced flow cytometers.
Ferring + you
Joining our Global Pharmaceutical R&D function, you will be a member of the Discovery Biotherapeutics leadership team. More specifically, you will head up our Biotherapeutic Screening department and lead a group of experienced scientists and laboratory technicians.
With expertise in functional, developability, and immunogenicity assays, your team is responsible for developing a versatile panel of in vitro assays to enable and secure the identification of drug candidates with the desired functionality profile and developability potential.
The team provides expert guidance to functional screening across all Ferring’s therapeutic areas – with a current emphasis on reproductive medicine and maternal health and uro-oncology – and across modalities, including biotherapeutics, peptides, and small molecules.
Your day at Ferring
Working primarily at IPC, your key responsibilities will be people management, coordinating screening workflows for projects at different discovery stages, and maintaining a versatile assay platform regarding competencies, equipment, and innovative solutions.
This includes supporting your team in providing early immunogenicity assessments of biotherapeutics as well as securing optimal data management and data sharing within Discovery Biotherapeutics and in discovery projects.

You will also:

  • Provide leadership support for discovery projects by identifying and guiding molecular project leaders from the Discovery Biotherapeutics unit who drive innovative biotherapeutic research projects jointly with biology project leaders
  • Support the evaluation of in-licensing opportunities and strategic external collaborations in cooperation with our External Innovation department
  • Assess, establish, and manage external resources and collaborations with CROs
  • Support budget administration, investment projects, and other administrative functions
  • Protect intellectual property and expand our external presence through an ongoing commitment to the production of high-quality patents, presentations, and publications

Behind our innovation – there’s you
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented leader with solid pharmaceutical experience in biotherapeutics drug discovery.
You want to use your scientific background and leadership experience to optimize operations. You have a keen interest in scientific data handling and research data platforms and a passion for delivering high-quality and decision-enabling data.

Your scientific background includes:

  • PhD in life science and relevant postdoc experience
  • Profound experience in pre-clinical drug discovery, from target identification to lead optimization, with a track record in advancing biotherapeutics programs to lead candidate selection
  • Expertise in screening methodologies (molecular pharmacology, advanced mode-of-action assays, and developability)

Your leadership experience comprises:

  • Line or project management experience in biotherapeutics drug discovery
  • A demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams in biotech/pharma R&D
  • The ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary and global matrix environment
