Description:

The roleReporting to the Executive Director, Contracting and Performance Management, the Senior Director, provides leadership, direction and expert advice regarding the negotiation, design, development, and execution of service agreements with 16 Hospital and Health Services and Mater Misericordiae Limited. This role is responsible for drawing on extensive and varied information from across the department to guide healthcare purchasing decisions, inform service agreements and set performance standards and objectives. You will also:

  • Oversee and take responsibility for the informed allocation, governance, management and monitoring of funding distributed to the Hospital and Health Services
  • Lead the negotiations of service agreements
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships and partnerships
  • Lead the annual review of the Queensland Health Performance and Accountability Framework

The successful personThe successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of contemporary, best-practice healthcare purchasing, funding and performance management methods and understanding of the challenges facing modern health service delivery. You will also have proven record of experience in successfully negotiating and managing high level service delivery contracts in a complex, dynamic, ever-changing health environment. Additionally, you will have the ability to work effectively as a member of a cohesive executive leadership team to achieve strategic objectives and respond to current and future challenges and opportunities for system improvements.
About Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance DivisionHealthcare Purchasing and System Performance (HPSP) Division is responsible for purchasing public health and social services from service providers and managing the performance associated with those purchasing decisions to optimise health gains, reduce inequalities and maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the health system.
Working with other key areas within the department, the division ensures health funding is used effectively to meet government priorities and deliver public health services to improve health outcomes for the population of Queensland.
