Responsibilities:

  • Directs a large mechanical engineering group responsible for the design, development and implementation of complete engineering programs in accordance with project budgets and release schedules. Responsible for professional development, team building, defining organizational roles, hiring and retention.
  • Develops long-range plans and creates mechanical engineering or product specific strategies to reach goals and reviews engineering specifications with significant impact
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers on exceptionally complex mechanical engineering issues to address customers High Value Problems (HVP) for the division and across the segment
  • Anticipates future needs and initiates the development and implementation of new approaches to mechanical engineering design and development with significant customer impact
  • Works with senior business group management team to ensure that such programs, strategies, and processes are aligned with the organization’s direction and will result in achieving Applied’s financial goals
  • Defines performance metrics and reports on the mechanical engineering functions progress against specific goals
  • Provides approval guidelines and leadership to reporting engineering managers in the area of long-term program, strategy, and process design with significant scope
  • Assures that a full range of technical reviews are held for the division and segment
