We are seeking a highly skilled DNS engineer with expertise with Infoblox and Microsoft DNS, with an understanding of Active Directory. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the DNS infrastructure within our organization. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our Enterprise DNS Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain DNS solutions using Microsoft DNS, Infoblox and BIND technologies to meet the organization’s requirements.
  • Configure and manage DNS settings, include resource records, zones, DNS views and policies ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve DNS-related issues, such as DNS resolution failures, DNSSEC implementation, network latency in a timely manner to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted service availability.
  • Implement security best practices to safeguard DNS infrastructure against potential threats and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. This may include DNS firewall rules, DNS filtering, and DNSSEC deployment.
  • Collaborate with the Active Directory team to integrate DNS services with Active Directory infrastructure, including DNS Zone replication, DNS dynamic updates/scavenging and consolidation, ensuring seamless operation and efficient management.
  • Monitor DNS performance and conduct performance tuning activities to optimize performance and enhance scalability. This may include generating, managing and configuring appropriate log/reporting for Infrastructure dashboards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of DNS configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Generate reports as needed to provide insights into DNS performance and usage trends.
  • Conduct capacity planning exercises to anticipate future DNS infrastructure requirements and ensure scalability to support business growth.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including network engineers, system administrators, and security specialists to address DNS-related requirements and support organizational initiatives. Must have good communication skills to share knowledge and best practices to foster continuous improvement and professional development.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a DNS Engineer or in a similar role, with specific expertise in Microsoft and Infoblox DNS technologies.
  • Strong understanding of DNS concepts, protocols, and standards including DNSSEC, DHCP, and IPAM.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory integration with DNS and experience in managing DNS zones and records within an Active Directory environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Infoblox Grid architecture, DNS/DHCP services, and related components.
  • Expertise in automation using scripting to standardize tasks (i.e. PowerShell, Python or others).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting DNS-related issues using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, or Infoblox Reporting and Analytics.
  • Solid understanding of network fundamentals including TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, and switching.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex DNS issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Develop clear, concise and comprehensive technical documentation, including design diagrams and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Industry certifications are a plus.
