Description:
Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $82,217 to $121,155 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to fill the role of Senior Economist in the Income Security and Pension Policy Division. This position offers the opportunity to thrive in a collaborative environment that leads strategic advice, analysis, and support on income security policy issues in Ontario.
RESEARCH, ANALYTICAL AND QUANTITATIVE SKILLS:
- You can analyze and evaluate income security programs, and develop and propose policy alternatives
- You can design, operate and maintain quantitative economic and financial spreadsheets and databases
- You have conducted research using economic or statistical techniques and programs
- You can liaise effectively with other analysts to guide and coordinate analysis or research projects to support policy work
COMMUNICATION, PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- You have experience preparing high-quality, well-written reports, presentations, briefings, draft policy papers and budget papers
- You can provide clear and concise advice to senior management
- You can develop work plans and provide advice on analytical approaches and quantitative techniques
- You can lead project teams and guide and coordinate the work of others under tight deadlines and competing priorities
- You know how to develop and maintain an open and positive working relationship with colleagues and partners across the government
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- shape ministry and government-wide analysis of key income security policy and program changes.
- lead research initiatives, analyze data and assess proposals for existing and new income security programs;
- work with partners in the Ministry of Finance and other ministries to develop and maintain integrated analysis of social, economic and fiscal issues affecting income security;
- lead and prepare the development of presentations, briefings and reports on policy issues for senior management and ministry partners;
- lead the development of forecasting models, including developing options analysis related to policy and program changes;
- contribute to the Ministry products such as the Budget and Fall Economic Statements, and prepare presentations to Cabinet committees and other material to support the work of the division;
- manage issues and communications related to income security policy.
