Description:

The QCAA is a statutory body of the Queensland Government established under the Education (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) Act 2014. In collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and partner agencies, the QCAA plays a critical role in the design and delivery of education in Queensland.
The QCAA is responsible for kindergarten guideline and senior secondary syllabus development, and for providing resources and services to help teachers develop curriculum, teaching and learning programs from kindergarten to Year 12. It also provides testing, assessment, moderation, certification, and vocational education and training services to Queensland’s education community.
The Publishing Unit is part of the QCAA’s Strategy, Planning and Corporate Support Division. The Publishing Unit is responsible for providing publishing services to all sections of the QCAA.
Main responsibilities
The Senior Editor or Senior Designer is responsible for supporting the Manager and the Publishing Unit to provide professional publishing services to the QCAA.

Responsibilities:

  • provide quality publishing advice to create fit-for-purpose resources for Queensland schools, the QCAA’s stakeholders, clients and staff, in line with the QCAA’s strategic plan
  • deliver high-quality technical editing and/or design skills, with high levels of clarity, consistency and accuracy, in a variety of styles and formats and for a variety of audiences, including for ad-hoc and high-stakes projects
  • develop and maintain an organisation-wide style guide and branding guidelines that reflect and incorporate industry-wide practices and organisational needs
  • manage a variety of concurrent projects and tasks in collaboration with internal stakeholders and clients to meet quality, financial and time specifications
  • build and maintain productive publishing partnerships with internal stakeholders and clients
  • identify problems, think laterally and draw on diverse sources to solve problems in accordance with stakeholders’ and clients’ needs and the organisation’s strategic direction
  • contribute to the Publishing Unit’s development and implementation of efficient workflow and job-tracking practices
  • contribute to a performance management and development culture by participating in two-way feedback discussions with the Publishing Manager, as well as undertaking other professional development activities as required.
