JOB SUMMARY

Join our team of talented Engineers in Danbury, CT as a Sr. Electrical Engineer! In this role, you will be working on the development of and maintenance/enhancement of Instrumentation and Control products for Naval and Commercial Nuclear applications.
NPS offers a rare environment where projects are diverse; ranging from legacy systems designed in the 1980’s to the latest technology, ensuring that engineers remain challenged by their work. Engineers are involved in shaping project concepts from the start; collaborate on designs; contribute through individual implementation efforts; and see the results of their accomplishments through completion of integration and test.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering + at least 5 years of experience
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to work with engineering teams across product lines and locations
  • Ability to multitask and be able to address multiple issues in parallel
  • Experience in support of manufacturing including but not limited to purchasing, quality control, manufacturing engineering and test
  • Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn
  • Recent experience with Nuclear Quality Assurance requirements, Specifically NQA-1 and 10CFR50 Appendix B
  • Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment

Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of state-of-the-art Instrumentation and Control systems for both naval and commercial nuclear applications
  • Duties will include circuit design, requirements and interface definition, modelling and analysis, testing, performance and design verification
  • Design and analyze Closed Loop Control Systems
  • Experience in both Analog and Digital design
  • Resolve complex issues related to architectural approaches, requirements, specifications, and design
  • Familiar with Power Supply Design and Distribution
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems both remotely and in-house
  • Communicate with the customer and internal management as a technical expert in order to achieve cost effective, technically compliant solutions
  • Lead technical aspects of proposal preparation
  • Ability to plan and schedule the completion of multiple conflicting priorities
  • Provide schedule, and technical compliance updates to management in order to effectively manage the execution of tasks
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
