Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Drake Trades and Technical is actively seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with a robust background in Low Voltage (LV) operations and High Voltage (HV) exposure, particularly within the mining sectors of Queensland (QLD). This individual should possess substantial experience in commissioning and control systems. The role involves serving as a cornerstone for our client’s major capital project located north of Mt Isa, QLD, offering critical on-site support and leadership. This position is crucial for the successful execution of electrical engineering tasks ranging from feasibility studies through to construction and commissioning phases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver expert-level electrical engineering support, closely collaborating with the project’s Principal Certified Electrical Worker (PCEW).
• Lead the electrical engineering support team in reviewing designs, developing scopes, and formulating execution strategies.
• Maintain the highest standards of electrical service delivery by adhering to industry best practices and ensuring procedural compliance.
• Enhance project team communication, with a strong focus on electrical safety protocols.

DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS:

• Advocate for and enhance the site’s safety culture, with a particular emphasis on electrical design and HV applications.
• Ensure environmental standards are met throughout all electrical design and construction stages.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers across various disciplines to foster a learning and collaborative environment.
• Manage site variations, cost estimations, schedules, and execution of works with a keen eye on quality and compliance.
