Description:

The Alberta Chief Firearms Office (ACFO) was established in September 2021 and administers the federal Canadian Firearms Program (CFP) to Albertans. The federal Firearms Act and Part III of the Criminal Code regulate the actions of the CFP.
The ACFO support safe communities by managing the ownership, purchase, movement and use of firearms within the province through the responsible administration of the federal Firearms Act.

QUALIFICATIONS

University Degree or diploma in the following fields: Arts, Humanities, Public Administration, Public Policy Social Sciences, Law, Public or Business Admin or related field supplemented with 4 years of related experience or a diploma in the fields listed above supplemented with 6 years related experience.

The following are required for this position:

  • Experience in advanced report writing, effective presentation skills and stakeholder engagement.
  • Considerable experience in project management.
  • Previous or current experience in creative/critical thinking, conceptual, decision making and problem-solving.In depth experience with different engagement tools and approaches.

  • Previous or current work experience in an agile environment.
  • Previous or current work experience with Canadian Indigenous history, culture, communities, social issues, political sensitivities, strengths and challenges.
  • Previous or current work experience in stakeholder engagement within a GoA context.
  • Previous or current work experience in GoA engagement processes.Certificate and/or training in IAP2.

  • Equivalency: Related Experience or Education may be considered on a one for one basis.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Engagement & Program Expertise, the Senior Engagement Analyst (SEA) uses expert knowledge of engagement/consultation methodology and applied best practices to lead, coach or guide engagement and/or consultation initiatives. You will provide strategic advice and planning to help inform, design, and implement engagement processes and tools. Your work includes offering comprehensive needs assessments, ensuring that clear objectives are set, providing evaluation, supporting engagement/consultation process integrity, and fostering continuous improvement.
You will work collaboratively with project teams and committees, communities and stakeholders (both internal and external) to plan and deliver effective engagements that support the ACFO in achieving its mandate. Often on the front-line of engagement in communities and with partners, you are expected to support leadership in a politically sensitive environment. Knowledge of the Canadian Firearms Program, as well as the surrounding issues and sensitivities is a key part of your position.
You are required to manage projects through to completion, ensure strategic engagement plans and project plans are based on environmental scans and best practice, liaise with key internal and external stakeholders and represent the ACFO in interdepartmental work teams and external committees.
You will provide strategic engagement advice, tactical planning (including data collection and analysis expertise), lead engagement initiatives, and manage the stakeholder interaction reporting. The unit comprises a professional Engagement & Outreach Team that fosters a collaborative culture both within the ACFO and with stakeholders to develop and strengthen existing relationships.
