  • Significant knowledge and experience in undertaking Structural Designs and/or Structural Assessments of various bridge types, covered ways, buildings and other railway/transportation related structures.
  • Significant knowledge of supporting construction, operation and maintenance, repair and strengthening of structures
  • A deep understanding of legislation, technical standards, health, safety and environmental considerations and industry best practice related to structural design/assessment, and principles of risk management and value engineering.
  • A deep understanding of design and assessment quality assurance processes.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to lead and undertake the design and/or assessment, repair and strengthening of Civil Engineering and building structures. TfL/Railway related experience will be desirable.
  • Ability to support and supervise graduates and apprentices in their development.
  • Ability to carry out hand calculations and use of analysis/design software.
  • Ability to use MS suites applications.
  • Ability to produce sketches/instructions and supervise CAD drawings production.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Significant experience in Bridges & Structures designs and/or assessments, construction, operation and maintenance
  • Experience of providing site technical advice, leading site visits, surveys and inspections; and producing reports for such
  • Experience of producing optioneering/feasibility studies and the production and evaluation of structural concepts independently.
  • Experience of applying subject matter expertise to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Broad experience of applying engineering judgement to support large programmes, enhancement projects or operational activities.
  • Experience of building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels within and outside TfL.
