Tetra Tech’s Infrastructure Division is seeking an experienced municipal engineer and project manager to join our growing Water team as one of two team leads, supervising staff and reporting to the Water group manager. We work on a wide range of water projects including the planning, design, and construction of urban, rural, and remote infrastructure for municipalities and First Nations across Western and Northern Canada. Infrastructure includes drinking water, storm water, and wastewater treatment and conveyance (piping and pumping) systems including grading, flood protection, and land drainage design. The successful candidate would be joining an exciting and fast-paced environment in a growing department with opportunities to both mentor and be mentored.
You will perform a combination of technical, project management, and business development roles on a wide variety of engineering assignments. Candidates should have strong technical abilities and a successful track record in managing municipal infrastructure projects in a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years engineering experience with municipal water or wastewater infrastructure, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
- University degree in Civil Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, or closely related discipline such as environmental or chemical engineering.
- Registered in good standing as a P. Eng. with Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba.
- Excellent communication skills are essential, including interpersonal, written, and verbal abilities.
- Strong technical abilities, as demonstrated through past experience with solving technical, project management, and client challenges, as well as anticipating and mitigating risk.
- Strong organizational skills, as demonstrated through experience with project delivery and development of internal standards and guides for technical applications.
- Experience and success in working within and leading teams that may reside in multiple offices or remote locations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel.
- Full Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Aptitude in project coordination/management, demonstrated through experience and/or certifications.
- Demonstrated business development success, particularly in an entrepreneurial or consulting environment an asset
- Field and/or construction administration experience an asset
Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and manage design of municipal infrastructure including land drainage, wastewater, and drinking water projects.
- Oversee and manage construction administration of projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with contract documents, on time, and on budget.
- Project management including cost, quality, and schedule management to meet client expectations and internal requirements
- Mentorship of intermediate and junior team members
- Supervision of junior team members and drafting staff
- Collaboration with other senior professionals to achieve common goals
- Development of client relationships, particularly in the Manitoba marketplace
- Leadership and preparation of proposals to secure new assignments
- Occasional travel such as for business development, client meetings, and/or site/construction milestone reviews.
