Job Summary
TYLin is seeking an experienced, self-motivated professional to join our City Solutions Philadelphia based team. This individual will provide consulting services related to the planning, design, procurement, integration, installation, and testing of mobility systems including commuter rail and transit traction power systems.
TYLin City Solutions projects involve the design of centralized train and bus dispatch systems, traction power monitoring and control systems, station/facility management systems, customer information systems, field data acquisition systems, security systems, and integration with positive train control systems. Projects often involve conceptual design, final design, and preparation of construction drawings for the Operations Control Center. These projects require a thorough understanding of train and bus dispatching and operational support activities, Operations Control Center staff roles and responsibilities, intelligent remotely located field equipment, and cyber security for IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) solutions to support operational needs and to interact with other enterprise systems.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Analyze current systems and operations methodologies to assess and recommend effective operational approaches; participate in a complete business process review of operations performed from the Operations Control Center; document current practices and future practices after new technologies are installed and operational
  • Prepare requirements analyses developed from an understanding of the client’s needs and industry best practices
  • Design technology solutions for current and future operational needs
  • Make recommendations for central control facility designs
  • Design system architectures that will integrate into the client’s enterprise
  • Prepare procurement specifications and supporting RFP materials
  • Assist in evaluation and procurement of specified systems/technology
  • Manage implementation of the resulting contracts
  • Oversee testing and field installation activities
  • Assist clients to migrate operations to new systems/technologies

    Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent relevant experience

  • 5-10 years related experience with commuter rail or transit, computer-based control and communications systems, AC and / or DC traction power systems, catenary and / or third rail power contact systems, and substation automation systems
  • Experience with wireline and wireless communications technologies to enable the computer-based monitoring and control systems to be fully integrated with field equipment is also essential
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States is required
  • Working experience at a commuter rail or transit agency, transit system supplier, or transit consulting firm desirable
  • Wayside signaling and roadway ITS systems experience a plus
  • Excellent English oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in formalized project management methods including planning and scheduling; cost control; risk and change order management; scope, schedule, budget, and quality management; project staffing; and status reporting. PMP preferred.
  • This is a Hybrid role. The successful candidate will need to be available to report our Philadelphia office and various clients’ sites in addition to the opportunity to work remotely.
  • There may be an occasional need to travel to other sites in North America as required to respond to our client’s needs.
