Job Title: Senior Engineer – Requirements and Acceptance – JAAT Auxiliary

Salary: £44,910 dependent on skills and experience

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Essential:

  • 5 Years’ experience in engineering or a defence or related industry
  • Good working experiences in more than one phase of the LCM, with sufficient experience of the total LCM to enable a good understanding of adjacent phases and through life engineering issues

Desirable:

  • An experienced engineering professional with a Mechanical background and knowledge of the Shipbuilding Assurance and Acceptance processes from concept, through design and design implementation to Customer Acceptance off-contract.

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered

THE REQUIREMENTS AND ACCEPTANCE – JAAT AUXILIARY TEAM:

As part of a Joint BAE/MOD team you will have a strong interface with the Auxiliary Systems Technical Authority and Approval Authority this is an exciting opportunity to support Technical areas covered including the design, operation, installation, setting to work and trials of all Auxiliary components and their supporting equipments and systems and also the Assurance and Acceptance components of Auxiliary Compartments.

Responsibilities:

  • Support to planning activities supporting Assurance & Acceptance events leading to completion of Customer acceptance forms, including Installation Inspections, Harbour Trials and Sea Trials and maintain related event schedules
  • Support the development and agreement of the acceptance scope with the Operations, Quality, Commissioning and Engineering teams
  • Weekly reporting of Auxiliary assurance and acceptance progress to the Cluster Lead
  • Support resolution of Auxiliary issues that arise during installation, setting to work and trials in-build, to ensure Auxiliary design requirements are maintained in the built ship, gathering evidence to support Assurance and Acceptance submission
  • Briefings of progress to key T26 stakeholders from Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Commissioning, JAAT, Ship Staff and other functions as necessary in relation to activities leading to Vessel Acceptance
  • Where design decision making is required to resolve issues challenge, identify and progress any emerging issues required to generate the Acceptance Submissions.
  • Ensuring the necessary documentation (MIs etc.), training & education and specialist tooling is in place with Operations and QC to support correct include operation, installation, setting to work and trials of all Auxiliary components and their supporting equipments and systems as required for Auxiliary Design compliance
  • Liaise with the Auxiliary Teams to support measurement and installation activities.
