We are now looking for an experienced Ethernet switch software support engineer for our Enterprise Experience (NVEX) team. This individual will have a proven grasp of network engineering and Linux, who also can triage customer network issues, resolve customer problems and maintain phenomenal customer relationships. This highly technical NVIDIA Enterprise Technical Support Engineer will not only be providing critical support to NVIDIA’s enterprise customers, they will also have the chance to create improvements and tools for NVIDIA’s Ethernet switch systems including Mellanox Spectrum, Cumulus Linux, SONIC, Mellanox Onyx, and potentially other Enterprise related network software. The ideal candidate will work closely with our largest customers, as well as the other NVIDIA Enterprise Experience Teams worldwide (Australia, Israel, China, and US). What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with NVIDIA Enterprise customers and internal users to improve the availability, reliability, and overall experience of working with NVIDIA enterprise technologies.
  • Own and drive customer issues with Ethernet switches from inception to resolution.
  • Actively work with customers and develop internal relationships that use NVIDIA’s internal expertise.
  • Bring independent analysis, communication, and problem-solving to customer experience.
  • Collaborate with engineering to document, recreate and solve issues.
  • Author and incorporate technical solutions into our knowledge base.
  • Develop software tools to support Enterprise Service offerings including, but not limited to Ethernet Switch software systems such as Cumulus Linux, SONIC and Onyx.
  • Regular on call shifts - including weekends and holidays - will be required on a rotational basis, based on your schedule and availability.

What we need to see:

  • Configuration and operational expertise with network switch/router platforms (i.e. IOS, JunOS, EOS).
  • Proven ability to deeply Analyze IP Layer 2 switching / Layer 3 routing networking protocols (ARP, STP, LACP, MLAG, IGMP, PIM, BGP, OSPF).
  • Experience in solving problems in large-scale network environments with overlay technologies (BGP, OSPF, XLAN, EVPN).
  • Ability to use tcpdump, read the relevant RFCs and file a bug
  • Expertise with Linux administration.
  • Strong scripting/automation experience with Python, bash, Ansible, Saltstack.
  • Expertise with Data centre virtualisation concepts and trends.
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written English skills.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Computer Science, Electrical, Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Background with Open Network products such as Mellanox switches, Cumulus Linux, Mellanox Onyx, or SONIC network operating systems.
  • Experience as a networking support escalation team member for large enterprise/service provider customers at a company that produces network devices such as switches and routers.
  • Linux and Networking Certifications such as CCONP, CCIE, RHCE.
  • Experience developing with C, and contributions to networking related open source projects such as Free Range Routing (FRR).
