This position can be based out of any of our office locations (Ottawa, Sudbury, Kitchener, Toronto, Kingston, Montreal, Yellowknife) and may include some travel.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

BluMetric is actively seeking a dynamic Senior Environmental Professional to join our growing Northern Projects team. The environmental professional is primarily responsible for planning, executing, and delivering environmental projects in Northern Canada and providing technical oversight in their area of expertise. The Senior Environmental Project Manager will work with government clients to define project requirements and scope, acquire project resources, and supervise the efforts of project team members while keeping projects on time and within budget. The successful candidate will work with our interdisciplinary team of experts servicing our clients in Canada’s North.
The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced technical expert in some aspects of environmental site assessment, environmental permitting, detailed design and/or contract supervision with experience working with the Federal, Territorial and/or Indigenous governments in Northern Canada. The candidate should possess strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills and enjoy the challenges and adventure of working on projects in Canada’s North. Our interdisciplinary team is looking for a dynamic individual who enjoys working collaboratively to solve the unique challenges that these Northern projects pose.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering/Geoscience, or a related Construction Management field is preferred.
  • Certification in PMP, CCE, PgMP, or a P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation eligible for NAPEG registration is an asset.
  • 5-7 years of direct work experience in Project Management with demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of Project Management methods.
  • Proficient in common desktop packages, i.e. Word, Excel, MS Project.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Ability to travel on business is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), bilingualism in French and English would be an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous governments and development corporations is an asset.
  • Experience working with the Federal Framework for Contaminated Sites is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage medium to large projects with the potential to manage a program of projects for specific clients.
  • Plan all project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and micro-deliverables using the appropriate software tools and/or PM methods.
  • Organize project teams into suitable workgroups and guide the teams throughout their efforts to produce quality deliverables.
  • Liaise with clients to manage change effectively while meeting project requirements.
  • Provide senior technical support in the candidate’s area of expertise and assist in strengthening our technical team through mentoring of junior and intermediate professionals.
  • Track all project costs to ensure completion within budget; procure extra budget funding where necessary.
  • Closely monitor the efforts and billing of subcontractors and other specialists supporting aspects of the project scopes.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams and associated work; create contingency plans to mitigate risk.
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives through proposal development and client management.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
