CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or higher education related to environmental sciences, biology or other related discipline
  • Currently poses a professional designation (or in training designation) applicable for conducting professional sign off in Alberta, British Columbia and/or Saskatchewan
  • Minimum 5 years of environmental work experience with three or more of the following:
  • Phase I and Phase II program execution
  • Remediation
  • Groundwater monitoring
  • Spill response
  • Detailed Site Assessments
  • Reclamation Certificate Applications
  • Vegetation management/reclamation site inspections, Preparing reclamation closure reports for submission in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan
  • Project management experience – cost estimates, scheduling, budget tracking, client interactions and communications
  • Experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of contaminated sites and reclamation regulations in Alberta and Saskatchewan

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and project management for a variety of project types
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Plan, organize, schedule and coordinate project activities
  • Work collaboratively with Vertex managers and project managers to effectively and safely schedule staff and resources to address client workloads
  • Remain current with applicable guidelines, regulations, standards and requirements in relevant operational areas
  • Provide senior technical review and sign off for reports within your scope of practice
  • Active stewardship of Vertex and client safety programs is expected
  • Build relationships within Vertex, with regulators and clients to effectively develop and manage projects within the environmental business unit
  • Mentor and coach junior and intermediate environmental staff
