Description:

Overview
Nasdaq’s Alternative Data group specializes in creating unique and insightful data products from non-traditional data sources.
Well-known examples of Alternative Data include sentiment measures, real-time tracking of vehicles via GPS transponders, satellite monitoring of industrial facilities, and consumer insights gleaned from anonymized credit card transactions. These datasets are often considered “alternative” because they do not fall in the traditional categories of data used by the financial industry: stock prices, company fundamentals, and so forth. Their importance in the financial markets is increasing rapidly as hedge funds and active asset managers are eager for data that offers predictive insights about the performance of individual companies, sectors, and the economy as a whole.
As a leading provider of Alternative Data, we deliver innovative products that power some of the most successful investment funds in the world. We welcome you to join us in our journey, as we continue to redefine the investment landscape.
The Opportunity
The Alternative Data group consists of two teams, Data Partnerships and Data Product. The Data Partnerships team scours the world for insightful data and forms partnerships to secure access to the data. The Data Product team onboards, cleans, structures, analyzes, and productizes the data into client-ready products.
The Alternative Data group is seeking a Senior Equity Analyst that will report to the Group Head and work in close collaboration with the Partnerships and Product teams. They will apply their knowledge of public equities and financial markets to assess data samples from prospective partners, quantifying their information advantage and comparing/contrasting the data with existing products available in the market. Ultimately, their analysis will help to determine which partnership opportunities to pursue. Once a partnership has been formed and a data product has been created and launched, the Analyst will periodically study the data product to identify actionable insights and engage Sales and Marketing to socialize their findings with our customers and media partners.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to companies of every size and from all industries and geographies. The ability to research different industries to become a cross-sector expert is both a key requirement and an immense learning opportunity. They’ll also have ample opportunity to exercise their autonomy and creativity, playing a key role in shaping our product pipeline.
