Description:

  • Wellington based commercial leadership position
  • Work with one of Wellingtons most prestigious builders
  • Unique and interesting pipeline of work
    As a Senior Estimator you will be responsible for collaborating closely with the Commercial Manager and project teams across a variety of projects of different sizes. This role involves providing comprehensive support in project estimation, including budgeting, cost analysis, and resource allocation.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Evaluate and price measuring documents
  • Create construction schedules of quantities and project budgets
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers for materials
  • Calculate material rates
  • Conduct contract negotiations with clients and contractors
  • Audit invoices, process variations, client progress claims, subcontractor progress payments, and manage financial tracking/reporting and supplier payments
  • Administer general contracts, including document control
  • Supervise staff as needed
  • Develop project programming
  • Ensure quality assurance standards are met
  • Resolve disputes between contracting parties
  • Attend site visits, engage with subcontractors, and liaise with clients

What you will need to be sucessful in the role:

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification. Preferably BSc Quantity Surveying
  • Experience in construction/building/project work
  • Estimation experience, approximately 8 years plus as construction Estimator dealing with multi residential and commercial builds to be fully competent
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - sound facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Sound commercial judgement, with ability to apply quality management principles
  • Ability to understand broader organisational perspective
