THE CLIENT
Our client, a respected builder-developer in Sydney, is seeking an experienced estimator. This is an exciting opportunity to advance with a company that is strategically enhancing its tendering capacity, with a committed pipeline of works.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
- Bachelor of Construction Project Management (Quantity Surveying) or related field
- A minimum of 7 years of post-graduate construction cost estimating experience
- Experience measuring new build high-rise residential apartments (over 100 units), Hotels and/or health/aged care-based projects.
- Experienced with on-screen take-off systems and various estimating software systems
- Excellent communication and leadership skills

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
The ideal candidate will be providing general assistance on the preparation of D&C tenders and post-tender negotiations: including but not limited to measuring and pricing builders’ quantities, liaising with Sub Contractors and Suppliers to obtain quotes, reviewing and understanding implications of D&C documentation, preparation of project budgets and cash flows, initiating value engineering exercises; preparation of major contract variations, consulting to construction personnel as well as other ad-hoc duties.
THE MAIN DUTIES AND TASKS OF AN ESTIMATOR WILL BE SUPPORTING THE ESTIMATING TEAM:
- Prepare D&C tenders.
- Measure and price builder’s quantities
- Manage and prepare tender documentation
- Liaise with other professionals
- Source Sub Contractor and Supplier quotes and prices
- Analyse data relating to land, buildings or construction
- Follow due diligence in interpreting the cost implications of tender documentation
- Undertake value engineering exercises
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
- Competency across a suite of construction-based software incl. procure, CostX, and MS Excel (Advanced).
- Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive and well-disciplined.
- Good communication and presentation skills both written and verbal.
- Self-confidence and ability to work with a variety of people
- Good customer service skills
- A team player with a ‘can do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable and flexible
- Commercial / Residential project experience on projects ranging from $50 million in value
