Description:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Finance Ops Analyst will play a key role in the Finance team to deliver the full spectrum of professional accounting and finance activities to Woh Hup (WH) Group of companies. This position offers the opportunity to gain a deep expertise within the finance function with the ability to work with senior stakeholders, and to lead and drive business optimization projects from the planning through to implementation.

Given the dynamic nature of the business, the below is a non-exhaustive list of deliveries expected from the candidate. However, it covers the foundation responsibilities and capabilities that are required for the candidate to be successful in this role.

  • Financial accounting and reporting: preparation of audited financial statements in compliance to professional accounting standards and external auditor requirements, supporting business new ventures through providing finance and accounting advice, and supporting initiatives to adopt new accounting standards.
  • Transactional accounting and closing processes: perform month-end close activities including accurately recording and reviewing financial transactions, overseeing critical accounts payable and receivable processes, preparing submissions to external auditors, IRAS and other parties, and identifying ways to mitigate risks and continuously improve. Ensure a strong risk and control environment throughout.
  • Cost accounting and reporting: Analyze the main drivers of performance and confidently explain to senior stakeholders the reasons for variances. Confidence in driving improved cost control and insights with business stakeholders.
  • Planning and Appraisal: Input to the business planning, budgeting and forecast processes, and produce management information reports to help drive decision making by senior stakeholders. Proactively highlight business value drivers and risks with business leads.
  • Change management and growth opportunities: Support and shadow the Finance Manager as the finance lead for transformation and growth projects, e.g. but not limited to new market/business expansions, driving operational excellence in finance operations, project managing the implementation of new systems and digital transformation.
  • Adherence to safety in the workplace

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A degree in Finance/ Accountancy/ Banking or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience and expertise across the spectrum of Finance competences with solid foundation in financial accounting, operational accounting and reporting, and working knowledge of IT systems implementations. Finance professional qualification and SAP knowledge preferred. Exposure to Treasury and Tax will be useful.
  • Confident in managing large and complex data sets in Excel and in a wider digital environment. Able to assess data, extract insights from financial and accounting software and navigate between different types of digital tools to produce results. Continuously learning new and better ways to manage and analyze data to support business outcomes.
  • They are an effective communicator with ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value and risk. They also possess an eye for detail and are results oriented, willing to challenge the status quo and strive for continuous improvement.
  • MNC experience will be valuable from the perspective of systems and processes and of reporting and accounting in compliance with local and international standards. Experience in the construction / asset-heavy industries would also be valued.
  • The individual has strong project management skills and has experience contributing towards formalizing processes and systems and in enhancing the performance of the finance function - and at the same time proven flexibility with ability to create, develop and adapt in the face of a dynamic situation.
  • Strong growth mindset and high personal integrity. A team player, with a positive proactive approach to managing and solving problems. Ability to collaborate across different teams is key.
