Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The role is responsible for supporting the AMP Group / Corporate, and Bank entities in the following areas:

  • Statutory financial reporting.
  • Regulatory reporting.
  • Financial control support.
  • Financial analysis.
  • Strong process improvement, integration and change focus.
  • Ability to work across functional business teams to influence change strategies and drive implementation of business improvements.
  • Contributing to the Reporting, Controls and FSS Team, which consistently delivers against both the Team objectives as well as the wider AMP corporate objectives.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Manage the preparation and review of statutory and regulatory reports and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Prepare accounting position papers and perform analysis on changes in financial reporting requirements together with adhoc accounting advice when required. This includes accounting policies, accounting estimates and judgements, recognition and measurement of financial instruments, related party transactions and financial risk management.
  • Support financial control through managing operational accounting processes to ensure data integrity, and that adequate internal controls are in place related to the governance of the ledger for reporting and analytical requirements. This includes understanding the financial systems, processes and procedures supporting the accuracy of data.
  • Ensure all deadlines are met on a timely basis. This includes the accurate and timely closure of accounting records at month-end and the timely delivery of all reporting deliverables for month-end and other key reporting periods.
  • Plan and prioritise tasks, especially around half yearly/yearly financial reporting periods, to meet various deliverables and achieve optimum output.
  • Identify and implement the scope and design, and develop, control enhancements, system enhancements, efficiencies, and improvements. Maintain a continuous improvement mindset in improving efficiency and eliminating risks to the business.
  • Provide support in establishing and achieving the team goals through supporting Team members and maintaining and contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Ensuring knowledge is shared and committing to personal development to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Prepare balance sheet accounts and reconciliations. Assist in the monitoring of liquidity and cashflow analysis.
  • Preparation of Audit Committee and Board Reporting. Create and maintain accounting procedures documentation.
  • Be a trusted adviser to key internal and external stakeholders including the external auditors.
