Description:

OVERVIEW

The Senior Financial Accountant, Group Finance is responsible for all consolidation entries and accounting balances that arise on consolidation in order to produce Link Group’s financial statements with no audit adjustments. The role also requires the accurate translation of foreign subsidiary financial statements and ensuring that certain transactions (e.g. inter-group management fees, dividends, interest-bearing loans/interest, or other one-off transactions) are accounted for correctly in the relevant legal entity.

EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance within a commercial environment
  • Experience in group reporting and consolidation is essential for this position
  • CA/CPA qualified (or international equivalent)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
  • Good understanding of current International and Australian Accounting Standards and relevant overseas / Australian Company law
  • Experience with large ERP, TM1 (or other relevant) reporting systems
  • Experience in monitoring regulatory requirements
  • Experience with large corporate structures and the associated consolidation and equity accounting issues
  • Experience with negotiating with internal and external partners
  • Strong commercial focus

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all consolidation and elimination entries are recorded in the relevant ledger / financial reporting system (including elimination of all inter-group trading and reconciliation/elimination of all intercompany balances);
  • Accurate translation of foreign subsidiary financial statements into their correct functional currency and Link Group reporting currency;
  • Accounting for external interest-bearing liabilities and interest/financing cost obligations in the relevant legal entity’s ledger;
  • Accounting for foreign currency loans to subsidiaries and associated interest obligations;
  • Accounting for transactions impacting upon numerous Link Group entities – e.g. audit fees, management fees, inter-group dividends, distributable profits reserve entries;
  • Ensure appropriate equity accounting entries are processed for all investments in associates;
  • Ensure the correct translation of foreign-subsidiary financial statements into the relevant functional currency and Link Group reporting currency;
  • Ensure timely and precise consolidation of Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and cash flow reports
  • Liaise with external auditors, consultants and relevant internal parties to achieve timely and accurate reporting;
  • Assist the Group Senior Financial Accounting Manager with providing reliable and relevant financial and management information across business activities;
  • Providing leadership and managing staff including developing, coaching and mentoring to build commitment to achieving our objectives;
  • Assist the Group Senior Financial Accounting Manager and Head of Financial Reporting with accounting for significant one-off transactions including acquisitions and divestments and accounting for associated costs), Link Group debt re-financing and other transaction support required by shareholders from time to time;
  • Complete and coordinate ad-hoc financial reporting as required and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial reporting process;
  • Contribute to Link Group accounting policies & planning and undertake key functions within the Group’s financial reporting processes;
  • Drive ongoing process improvement with Finance, including ongoing development of Link Group’s financial reporting systems; andReview and drive improvements in the general ledger company, account and cost centre structure to enhance the quality of management information.
