Responsibilities:
Under general supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst performs a variety of accounting and financial services related to the maintenance and accuracy of the detailed accounts of Bassett Medical Center and its corporate affiliates. Responsible for completing annual tax return preparation, and certain monthly and yearly financial close processes. The Senior Financial Analyst acts as a key member of the finance team and is called on to frequently make decisions apart from immediate direction or supervision. The Senior Analyst is regularly expected to act autonomously when performing detailed analysis and to then act upon that analysis in the form of taking appropriate, unsupervised, action.
- Completes all appropriate month end Journal Entries in support of monthly closing process 100% of the time.
- Accurately enters 95-98% of various accounting entries which update the general ledger monthly within the guidelines established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board as noted by the Manager, Accounting and/or the Director
- Responsible for preparing necessary reports and analyzing data for the month end process within the prescribed time-frames.
- Prepares work papers to support/document monthly journal entries.
- Coordinates, gathers and prepares the federal and state annual tax returns for Bassett Medical Center and its affiliates. Exercises independent decision making and analysis when preparing tax returns.
- Coordinates the review of the Federal 990 tax return for Bassett Healthcare Network and its corporate affiliates with the Vice President, Finance & CFO, external tax consultants and the Corporate CFO.
- Acts as the main contact for tax auditors in finalizing and filing tax documents.
- Follows all hospital, federal and state policies, procedures and regulations that apply to financial data preparation.
- Participates in achieving the quality and productivity standards set each year in the Finance Division work plan.
- Follows all hospital policies and procedures as outlined in the Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual and the Administrative Policy and Procedure Guide.
- Ability to understand and work with integrated Financial Software applications.
- Comfortable communicating and working with leadership.
- Prepares monthly payroll journal entries including accruals (from UKG to Infor).
- Performs other duties as requested and observed by director or manager.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
- 4 year / Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Healthcare Administration, Associate degree in Accounting/Finance with an additional 5 years experience in accounting/finance may be considered
- Experience may be considered in lieu of education
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years finance/accounting experience, required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
