JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr. Financial Analyst reports to the Director Accounting Canada. This remote role will participate in monthly team meetings on site. Major activities include control of the affiliate netting system for the Canadian business and ensuring sales and use tax integrity and reporting completeness. This position is charged with the responsibility to complete routine financial analysis and financial analysis of a special project nature. Considerable contact is made with peers worldwide. The Analyst establishes contacts with financial personnel throughout Belden in order to maintain information flows to accomplish his/her primary job responsibilities. The incumbent ensures that the information used is the most timely and accurate available.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting preferred
  • GAAP and SOX controls experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a publicly traded company preferred, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • SAP S4 Hanna preferred
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill
  • High attention to detail; data entry accuracy in a high volume environment

Responsibilities:

  • Audit sub-system entries frequently to maintain accuracy of General Ledger (GL) feeder systems.
  • Preparation and entry of all intercompany advices and invoices (payables and receivables) and balance sub-ledger and general ledger for these balances. Includes all entries related to bank deposits for Direct billing customers and miscellaneous cheques.
  • Prepare weekly as well as monthly inter-company netting payment and tie off with affiliates.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including but not limited to, affiliate accounts and revaluation component of accounts payable.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual tax package for our corporate tax auditors.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet revaluation entry and related reports. Prepare weekly currency position reports and forecasts.
  • Conduct the monthly affiliate forecast tie off process.
  • Reconcile Richmond advice listing with General Ledger monthly.
  • Act as back up to Senior Financial Analyst responsible for bank reconciliations and Training revenues.
  • Ensure integrity of sales and use taxes recorded in the GL. Ensure taxes on invoices are correct, and that input taxes claimed are accurate. Liaise with AP to correct any recurring ITC errors. Check sales and use taxes charged and claimed at least weekly. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation. Prepare and submit payment vouchers and file sales & use taxes online or via mail as required by government authorities.
  • Prepare annual UPC lag studies with support from Senior Financial Analyst.
  • Participate in SAP S/4 Hana implementation, including special projects.
