Description:

Title: Senior FP&A Specialist
Reports to: Head of Finance
Location: Toronto – Adelaide & Victoria – Must be in office 4 days of 5, per week

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (CFA or CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in a technology startup or high-growth environment.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining complex financial models and forecasts.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (macros, what-if analysis, xlookup); experience with Netsuite is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS, ASPE, cost accounting).
  • Experience with venture capital fundraising, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), or investor relations is an asset.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to various stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist will play a crucial role in providing financial insights and strategic support to external stakeholders, senior management, and various departments within the company. You will be responsible for leading the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical efforts, ensuring financial health and efficiency across the organization. This individual will also contribute to building and improving processes and policies relating to these workflows. There is also opportunity for this role to contribute to other strategic finance projects as requested by the Head of Finance. This role reports directly to the Head of Finance and offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with the senior management team and investors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Analyze financial data, performance metrics, and decipher trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations to the Head of Finance and department leaders.
  • Partner with department leaders to create and manage annual operating budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for investors and department leaders, highlighting key performance indicators and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, profitability, and growth initiatives.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial results, identifying areas for operational improvement, revenue growth opportunities, and cost optimization.
  • Support investor relations and the company’s financing strategy by providing financial analysis, metrics, and projections to investors and other external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement financial processes, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform financial strategies.
