Description:

Job Summary:
The Senior Grants Specialist will take on a primary role in developing diverse institutional, government, and corporate foundation funding sources for Lowell Community Health Center’s existing services and proposed expansions. S/He will serve as organization lead in identifying and submitting philanthropic and contract grant funding requests to private; local, state, national, and international funding resources. S/He will actively participate as a member of the Advancement & Communications Team.
Option for hybrid work schedule after onboarding period, depending on department work flow and needs.

Job Requirements:

  • Research, identify, review, and vet grant opportunities.
  • Collaborate with health center leadership, program staff, and community organizations on proposal focus and input.
  • Write and edit competitive grant proposals; develop budget requests, analyze, and utilize patient, programmatic, and community data.
  • Track proposal and report deadlines.
  • Support a variety of activities related to Federally Qualified Health Center status and resource development.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, finance-based grants manager, and external consultants on coordinated processes.
  • Maintain grant database.
  • Assist as needed with Development Department programs and events.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional grant writing or grant management experience in a complex health care or nonprofit organization and experience submitting state and federal grant proposals.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to embrace and communicate Lowell CHC’s mission, vision, strategic goals, purpose and values, commitment to equitable fundraising practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in managing complex projects and work with colleagues throughout the organization to craft successful proposals and meet deadlines, even those that are unpredicted and/or last minute.
  • Passion for community development and experience working with internal and external partners on collaborative grant proposals.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail. Strong research skills, both to target funding prospects and to improve the content in grant submissions.
  • Familiarity with clinical and programmatic performance measure data
  • Experience working with Finance in developing programmatic budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related document-development programs; Internet search engines; donor database; and web-based systems for grant submissions
  • Positive and engaging interpersonal skills.

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours.
