Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. We are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineering Program Manager to join the team.
As Microsoft’s cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
  • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team project
  • 2+ years experience managing hardware product development.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 5+ years experience managing end-to-end (E2E) hardware product development, preferably in cloud infrastructure hardware or server development.
  • Knowledge of high-volume server design, manufacturing, data center deployment and operations at scale.
    Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year. Responsibilities:

  • Lead a virtual team of functional leads including members from hardware and software engineering, sourcing, supply chain, networking and datacenter operations for documenting a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) for the new product development and leading the project team to meet stated milestones.
  • Technical Program Management for new Cloud hardware development. Drive the development, planning & execution of a holistic cross functional product development and/or launch strategy. Provides technical leadership and identify technical risks and lead resolution of technical issues.
  • Responsible for effective communication and escalation of risks and dependencies, while ensuring timely decisions are being made.
  • Lead cross organizational team and drive accountability for team for all portions of the work to deliver best in class end-to-end architecture solutions.
  • Conducts risk management efforts in new product introduction, scenario planning and mitigation of risks, recovery from risks.
  • Communicate to and regularly interact with senior management, highlighting risks across functional teams and providing recommendations to support product level decisions.
  • Operate and lead effectively in ambiguity. Apply process where it creates value, and design process where it’s needed. Recognize the situations where each approach is most appropriate.
  • Ensure cross functional alignment: generating clarity, tracking towards development milestones and overall readiness for all new Data Center infrastructure development, launch, and deployments.
