WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

It’s important to Vector to keep our great HSE culture moving forward, therefore you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • 5 + years’ experience in health and safety leadership, preferably working within a high hazard industry
  • A strong record of delivering safety leadership within a large organisation
  • Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment knowledge and Incident investigation experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of industry Codes of Practice and of New Zealand’s Health, Safety, and Environmental regulatory framework,
  • Be a people person who successfully builds relationships, has experience of partnering with stakeholder and creates change by supporting others
  • You will be naturally inquisitive and intuitive, and looking to work in a forward-thinking organisation
  • You will be able to juggle multiple and changing priorities
  • You will be able to travel to different OnGas sites around the country at least once a month
  • Auditing qualifications and/or lead auditor experience desired
  • A qualification in Health & Safety and/or Environmental is desired.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this 12 Months Fixed-Term, hands-on senior role - you will proactively partner with our OnGas business unit teams and managers as a safety leader and change agent to ensure that HSE culture and performance expectations are achieved, barriers actively managed and new and fresh thinking to safety is embraced. This role could be based in Auckland or Hamilton, whichever suits you.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL ALSO:

  • Provide accurate, timely and highly professional HSE advice, tools and guidance
  • Work with operational teams to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Build relationships with people leaders, field workers and contracting partners which promote safe work practices and outcomes
  • Travel to different OnGas sites across New Zealand a minimum of once a month
  • Assist with prequalification of contractors and contractor management
  • Carry out or support incident investigations and assurance and auditing programmes
  • Provide input into business projects, safety in design, and generally work collaboratively across the organisation
  • Work with teams to establish, maintain and ensure safe systems of work are embedded and a safe environment is created for operational resources
  • Provide expert advice to ensure Vector complies with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance
  • Support the preparation and completion of internal and external audits and work with the business to address any conformance issues.
