An exciting opportunity has become available for a Health Care Support Worker to join our Paediatric Outpatient Department at Westgate Children’s Centre at Southmead Hospital.
Westgate Children’s Centre provides a range of clinics for babies and children run by both North Bristol NHS Trust and University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, with experienced Children’s Nurses and Doctors.
A Senior Healthcare Support Worker is a core member of the team delivering direct care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan. You will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner.
The Senior HCSW role is a Band 3 role and previous healthcare experience, a Level 3 Healthcare Qualification and completion of functional skills are an essential requirement for direct entry into this role. Ideally this experience should be in an acute / hospital setting and paediatric experience is desirable.

Working as a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. You will be working alongside a Registered Nurse to provide a high level of care whilst caring out the following roles:
supporting children and their families
assisting with the checking of equipment in the department
perform height and weights and record accurately
perform observations and escalate any concerns to a registered member of staff
provide distraction during phlebotomy
support the clinician to ensure their clinics run smoothly
welcome people to the department and answer the telephone to ensure seamless running of the department
