JOB SUMMARY

Since we were formed in 2019, our HR Team has been developing new ways of providing professional and practical HR support to Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) and our sister agency Scottish Forestry (SF). Our HR Team combines HR expertise on the full range of strategic, operational and transactional HR matters. We have an established business partnering model in place providing relevant service to our regions and directorates. Specialist roles include our Talent and Resourcing and Policy and Employee Relations functions.
The Talent and Resourcing team support recruiting managers with the full recruitment cycle. They also engage with the organisation on the continuous improvement and implementation of resourcing approaches and the development of talent management processes. The team comprises this role, 3 x Recruitment Advisors and 2 x Resourcing Assistants.
As an Executive Agency of Scottish Government (SG), we also work closely with SG colleagues in HR, Resourcing and Security too.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an exciting opportunity for a talent and resourcing professional to make a valuable impact to Forestry and Land Scotland and deliver an exceptional service to Scottish Forestry. Reporting directly to the Head of People Services you will have five direct reports. Working in close partnerships with key stakeholders across the organisation you will ensure that the Talent and Resourcing team provides professional expertise and high-quality support to enable the organisation to operate to its full potential. You will also take ownership of the service improvements for the team and the implementation of these. This role will provide you with a real opportunity to shape both the talent and resourcing workstreams in a vibrant organisation.
Working closely with the Recruitment Advisors, you will ensure that recruitment campaigns attract and recruit exceptional talent. As part of process improvement, you will lead the development of our use of technology for transforming our resourcing and recruitment delivery.
Central to your role will be ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion is mainstreamed throughout all aspects of resourcing. You will also lead on the team promoting employment opportunities by working with external stakeholders and attending career and learning fairs and promoting FLS as an employer of choice.
You will lead on the creation, development and implementation of talent management processes. This will include assessing the effectiveness of our current workforce, identifying resource and skill gaps and building strategic talent plans for each business area. You will play a critical role in supporting the development of colleagues and delivering strategic talent plans, working closely with both the Learning and Development and the HRBP teams in the identification of themes and requirements.
The post is based in either our Edinburgh or Inverness Office with the requirement for occasional travel to other offices across Scotland.
