JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for overseeing, managing and fulfilling various HR functions within the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with employment related legislation, fostering positive employee relations, and supporting strategic HR initiatives. The Senior HR Generalist will play a key role in talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, payroll, compensation and benefits administration, occupational health and employee engagement. They will also provide leadership and support to the management team, collaborate with other departments, and contribute to creating a positive workplace culture.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
1. Consultation: guide, support, and advise managers on all aspects of the HR lifecycle/functions.
2. Recruitment and Staffing: Oversee and conduct recruitment processes, manage onboarding, and assist in workforce planning.
3. Payroll, Compensation and Benefits: Administer position descriptions, salary structures and benefits programs; administer bi-weekly payroll & leave management processes.
4. Employee Relations: Mediate conflicts, conduct investigations, oversee the progressive discipline process, and provide employee support.
5. Performance Management: Coordinate performance management process (competency & goal-based evaluation), provide feedback and/or direction regarding performance management issues (e.g., performance improvement plans), and ensure consistent application and alignment between the compensation policy and performance management process.
6. Training and Development: Identify training needs and coordinate and/or deliver programs to support employee growth and professional development.
7. Policies: develop, monitor, and enforce HR policies consistently across the organization
8. Occupational Health: administer the RTW process (occupational & non-occupational); maintain employee medical files; act as on-site EAP contact; submit WSIB incident reports and manage WSIB files and reports.
9. Compliance: Ensure HR policies, practices and programs are compliant with employment related legislation.
10. HR Strategy and Planning: Contribute to HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and analyze HR metrics.
11. Employee Engagement and Culture: Develop initiatives to enhance engagement and foster a positive workplace culture.
12. HRIS and Reporting: in collaboration with HTS/KORE, manage and maintain HR/payroll systems; generate and utilize system reports to support HR and operational needs.
13. Other related duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (e.g., Bus Admin, HRM, Psych)
  • Specialized HR certification or training (e.g., mediation, health & safety, change management, leadership development)
  • CHRL or CHRP professional designation preferred
  • 5-7 years progressive HR experience across multiple HR functions; experience in leadership roles (e.g., Job evaluation committee, wellness committee, JOHSC committee, management) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and HRIS (e.g., Dayforce, Peoplesoft, SAP)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the position
