JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a senior human resources specialist to join our team. You will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations of our retail staffs in Canada and USA. You will also provide strategic guidance and support to the store managers and district Managers on human resource issues and initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or related field.
- Minimum five years of human resource experience, preferably in the retail industry.
- Professional certification in human resources, such as CHRP, SHRM-CP, or PHR, is an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of human resource practices and principles, and applicable labor laws and regulations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with different levels of management and staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and human resource information systems.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Willing to travel occasionally to different store locations.
- Independent, self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision while setting priorities and adapting to multiple demands.
- Able to work under pressure and meet timelines with minimum supervision.
Base Salary: CA$65,000/yr - CA$80,000/yr
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement human resource policies and procedures for the retail business unit.
- Manage the full cycle of recruitment, selection, and onboarding of retail and office staffs.
- Coordinate and facilitate training and development programs for staffs, including orientation, product knowledge, customer service, and sales skills.
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide feedback and coaching to retail and office staff.
- Handle employee relations issues and grievances and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
- Provide advice and support to store managers and district managers on human resource matters, such as staffing, compensation, benefits, discipline, and termination.
- Analyze and report on human resource metrics and trends, such as turnover, retention, engagement, and productivity.
- Participate in human resource projects and initiatives, such as succession planning, diversity and inclusion, and employee recognition.
- Provide recruiting support including but not limited to job descriptions and postings, screening resumes, phone screening candidates, writing up candidate profiles for presentation to hiring managers, participating in interviews with various hiring managers, reference checks, drafting offer letters, onboarding support.
- Other HR related tasks might be assigned.
