Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

Senior Humanitarian Advisors (SHAs) are a part of GOAL’s Emergency Response Unit; led by GOAL’s Humanitarian Director. This unit provides overall leadership and guidance to GOAL’s emergency preparedness and response function, leads GOAL’s emergency response during first phase in new territories or where additional capacity is required in exiting countries of operation, and leads on strategy entry into protracted crisis. GOAL’s Emergency Response Unit is primarily charged with developing and managing programmatic responses to rapid onset crises and ongoing complex emergencies, deploying to new emergencies.
The primary function of the SHA is to provide strategic support to GOAL’s emergency programming and surge management capacity to crisis responses in new and existing country programmes. The SHA will contribute fostering and building new partnerships at a global and on country levels to ensure that GOAL can effectively respond to crises. In addition, the SHA will have a focus of interest/expertise in health sector emergency response. The role will involve at least 30% travel.
