Description:

SALARY: £40,950 (PRO-RATA)

We’re looking for a Senior Individual Giving Manager to join our development team at the British Library for 12 months as a maternity cover, starting in October 2024.
We’re the national library of the UK. We have a living collection that gets bigger every day, with more than 170 million items – from Magna Carta, to handwritten Beatles’ lyrics, to manuscripts by the Brontës. Every item in our collection has the potential to start a journey of exploration, and by opening them up as widely as possible, we help people do amazing things. Write an award-winning novel. Make a medical breakthrough. Redefine history.
In your role as Senior Individual Giving Manager, you’ll be leading the fundraising for our Patrons and legacies programmes, managing a vibrant programme of events and engagement activities to ensure high levels of Patron recruitment and retention and to grow our pool of legacy pledgers, engaging them closely with our work. You’ll also line manage the Individual Giving Officer, who drives forward our fundraising marketing and messaging work, promoting the Library as a charity and running our public appeals, Adopt a Book and Desk and Chair naming programmes. You’ll have your own portfolio of donors and prospects and work closely with the Head of Major Donors and Individual Giving, the Development Director, Trustees and colleagues across the organisation to seek new contacts and connections, build the prospect pipeline and secure funding, developing cultivation and stewardship strategies and managing key relationships.
In return, we offer a competitive salary and a number of excellent benefits. Our pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes a minimum of 26.6% (this may be higher dependant on grade. Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays.
