HOW WILL I HELP?

Westpac’s Cyber Threat Intelligence team sits within our Information Security Group’s Detection & Response section. We provide tactical, operational and strategic threat intelligence to support our business. We are looking for a seasoned cyber threat intelligence professional to be part of a team that performs analysis of sophisticated adversarial threat actors and campaigns that may pose a threat to Westpac and our stakeholders. The successful candidate will have experience in intelligence analysis, good analytic judgement, sound writing skills, and have an investigative mindset who can operate with limited supervision in an often fast-paced environment.

The role will include, and is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Producing clear, concise and well-researched analytic products on cyber threats, including situation reports and analyst reports.
  • Identify, analyse and deliver short-turnaround assessments on emerging cyber threat issues.
  • Providing briefs or presentations on cyber threat actors.
  • Maintaining an advanced situational awareness of contemporary and developing threats in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior analysts.
  • Collaborating with other teams across the Information Security Group.
  • Contributing to good community relations with industry and government counterparts.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the below skills:

  • 5+ years in an intelligence analysis and/or cyber security analysis role (government or private)
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong research, critical thinking and analysis skills (with formal training a bonus)
  • Advanced understanding of major cyber threats to financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region, sufficient to identify instances of major cyber threats, establish trends and patterns, and develop forecasts.
  • Good technical background or incident response experience (CISSP/CEH or equivalent skill set ideal), and ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Good understanding of concepts such as the intelligence cycle, Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline such as cyber security, computer science or security studies is mandatory
