SKILLS REQUIRED
- Experience of digital project delivery into the MOD and/or central UK Government clients.
- Exposure to highly secure / operational / mission critical environments.
- Must have operational experience in a production setting with Vmware Cloud Foundation Core: vSphere / ESXi, vCenter, vSAN and NSX-T.
- Ideally some operational experience in a production setting with Vmware Cloud Foundation operations: Aria Automation, VMware Aria Operations, VMware Aria Operations for Logs, VMware Skyline.
- Linux (Ubuntu preferred) and Windows OS, active directory and windows centric core services experience.
- Cloud Readiness and Application Modernisation experience
- Hyper converged infrastructure experience – ideally Dell vXrail
- Security best practices, system and OS level security hardening (CISCAT benchmarking etc) security vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus
- Desirable knowledge: k8 /container / Tanzu Kubernetes grid exposure / experience
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must be eligible to go through a SC level security clearance, DV preferred.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
We are recruiting for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud Foundation) to join one of our major defence programmes.
The role will be responsible for working as a core member of the infrastructure engineering team delivering into and in support of an operational and multi tenanted private cloud environment. They will be s a specialist for the VMWare Cloud Foundation Core tools to maintain and extend the services offered to the private cloud tenants.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- SDN defined data centre networking design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.
- VMware NSX-T virtualised networking specifically end to end integration with SDN physical network Next Gen firewall and boundary firewall IDS/IPS design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.
- Linux operating system (Ubuntu preferred) design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.
- Windows OS, active directory and windows centric core services (WSUS, SCCM, etc) design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.
- Data protection / management - VMware and guest OS and App integration.
- Security best practices, system and OS level security hardening (CISCAT benchmarking etc) using security vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus.
- Creation of operating procedures and knowledge articles / process.
- Creation and on-going updates to detailed system design and configuration documentation.
- Involvement in the on-boarding and service transition of tenants into to a new hosting capability.
- Provide technical support, incident and request response in a live environment (predominantly 3rd line support).
