JOB DESCRIPTION

Our teams are responsible for ensuring the operational stability of our solutions and to improve the on-going robustness and resilience of those products.
You will be responsible for ensuring best practices are adhered to across the Department and guiding teams on how to deliver quality products.
You will work within a team focused on the delivery of the Infrastructure Monitoring and Management toolsets.

Your role will maintain responsibility for all engineering elements within your product set, the focus will be on design and implementation but also provide subject matter expertise to ensure that our tooling portfolio is running optimally.
Our team work to ITIL standards across Incident, Problem and Change management as you design and maintain the Portfolio of Enterprise Tools within our domain to provide a robust and modern enterprise strength capability.
You will be the escalation point for any live service issues related to your toolsets and provide support and assistance to junior staff and users.
Proficient level experience of IT infrastructure concepts is essential as this knowledge will allow you to work in collaboration with a range of internal and external partners, stakeholders, and customers.
Experience in the Systems Management capabilities that we operate, particularly BMC, would be beneficial but not essential as training will also be provided to the right candidate.
We operate a variety of systems including Windows and various flavours of UNIX. You will be confident remotely accessing servers and have a good level of understanding of Public Cloud and Infrastructure as a Service concepts.
We monitor a number of systems resident within public cloud environments including traditional instance based deployments as well as containerised solutions. To perform this, we host a number of our services within the public cloud environments and so knowledge of these environments would be beneficial.

Responsibilities:

To meet the requirements for this role, you should provide supporting information in your Personal Statement demonstrating how your experience meets the following Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrate significant experience in designing and delivering Enterprise Tooling services/solutions to meet strategic plans and roadmaps.
  • Demonstrate significant experience in providing specialist technical support and assistance to projects ensuring definition and delivery of requisite non-functional requirements to architectural and roadmap developments.
  • Demonstrate significant experience of supporting and mentoring the development of team members to successfully deliver high quality outcomes that meet the customers’ needs and provides value for money.
  • Demonstrate significant experience in the development and implementation of service improvement plans to address identified issues.
  • Demonstrate significant experience of effectively communicating at different levels, across support and engineering, business users, architecture and suppliers.
  • ITIL Foundation qualified or similar experience.
