Description:
Ability West has been providing services and supports to children and adults with intellectual disability and comorbidities for 60 years .Over 600 children and adults avail of our services and supports in 13 geographic locations with 62 centres located across Galway City and County. We are excited to announce that we are seeking applications for the position of Senior Instructor in one of our Galway city locations.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Experience in developing QQI standard or similar day modules, recording evidence of goals and ambitions.
- Knowledge of Person Centered planning and managing behaviours that challenge.
- Training in communication strategies

Responsibilities:
- Write, plan, implement and evaluate programmes/learning modules in a variety of QQI training areas including, personal safety, personal care, using technology, visual art, food choice and health, relaxation techniques, health related exercise depending on the people we support’ preferences and learning ability.
- Support the Day Services manager and Basic Instructors on delivery of modules/courses as required. These courses will include specific skills as well as social development, personal care, and community integration. Building independence and communication are integral in a rehabilitative training environment.
- Ensure that people we support’s individual plans are in line with New Directions Interim standards.
- Act as Person in Charge in the absence of the Manager of Adult Day Services, as directed. This will include day to day management of other staff, volunteers, students and community outings/visitors.
