ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior International Advisor is a strategic role responsible for developing, in collaboration with the organisation’s senior leadership team, Standards Australia’s international engagement strategy. This includes advocacy on matters of critical importance to the organisation as the National Standards Body (NSB) and a member of ISO and IEC. The Advisor will foster and leverage from relationships with NSBs and Standards Development Organisations (SDOs) to support Australia’s broader strategic interests and cooperation amongst peer organisations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Development of SA’s international engagement strategy
  • Develop relationships with counterpart NSBs, regional and global standards body partners in support of Australia’s broader strategic interests and cooperation amongst nations globally
  • Ensures that Australia is recognised as a strong and valued contributor to international and standards development activities
  • Identify and address potential issues, opportunities and risks in the international standards setting system and its implications to Australia and Standards Australia
  • Develop and direct Standards Australia’s position on various matters of relevance and interest to the organisation as a member of ISO and IEC, as well as coordinate SA’s positions to be advocated by Australian representatives in Governance roles
  • Develop and draft communications and case studies on international engagement activities for internal and external use
  • Ensures that Australia is recognised as a strong and valued contributor to international and standards development activities
  • Develop briefs and position papers to support Australian representatives in governance roles within ISO and IEC
