THE COMPANY

B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has three operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia, and the Philippines, a mine under construction in northern Canada and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland. This year, B2Gold forecasts total consolidated gold production of between 1,000,000 and 1,080,000 ounces.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A university or technical college-level degree in a technology discipline will be a plus; however, self-taught candidates with relevant experience and skills are welcome to apply;
  • Cisco, Microsoft, VMware and other relevant technology certifications;
  • Minimum three years of experience configuring and supporting Microsoft Windows Server systems and stacks in an enterprise environment at an L2 level or higher. Linux experience will be a plus;
  • Experience with enterprise service desk systems and applied knowledge of foundational ITIL concepts;
  • Experience deploying the VMware ESX stack, configuring ROBO-size server clusters and associated physical infrastructure;
  • CCNA-level knowledge of enterprise L2/L3 networking; understanding of modern enterprise access layer technologies, network segmentation, and network defense in depth;
  • Knowledge of workstation and endpoint management at the enterprise level: mass deployment, configuration management, AV/EDR;
  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written) with a proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills;
  • Dedicated, well-organized, and resourceful with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and able to handle confidential information;
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deadline-driven;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a group setting;
  • Ability to work with different cultures across different time zones.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with scripting and automation in PowerShell (additional scripting languages, Web programming, or DBA skills will be a plus);
  • IT security-specific skills, experience, or interests considered an asset;
  • Basic managerial experience: managing a small team or contractors; drafting budgets; creating presentations considered an asset;
  • Advanced writing skills (i.e., experience developing policy documents or drafting technical manuals) considered an asset; and
  • Knowledge of Spanish and/or French considered an asset.

JOB DEMANDS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is based out of our Vancouver head office on a full-time basis;
  • Must be able to lift packages up to 30lbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the on-premise ESXi/Windows infrastructure on a day-to-day basis (upgrades, security patching, backup, maintenance, monitoring);
  • Manage the on-premise Cisco and FortiNet-based networking infrastructure; configure devices, monitor performance, and grow the network as required by the business;
  • Utilize the corporate Service Desk platform for daily operations; maintain the CMDB and ensure correct documentation practices by the rest of the team;
  • Manage the corporate HQ Active Directory organizational unit: configure GPOs, manage the AD object lifecycle;
  • Manage corporate HQ objects in the Office 365 tenant;
  • Assist the IT team in developing tools and practices for managing the company on-premise, remote workstation and mobile device fleet;
  • Serve as an escalation point of contact for high-impact or complex IT issues;
  • Collaborate with the IT architect on implementing security practices, maintaining compliance and improving the infrastructure;
  • Implement new systems, applications or software as required;
  • Liaise with third party contractors and consultants to provide infrastructure capacity and participate in implementation.
