WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce or Economics or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with capital planning, forecasting, and budgeting; prior experience in Information Technology will be considered an asset
  • Minimum 3 years prior experience in building and managing planning models with a proven ability to generate investment scenarios based on standardized evaluation criteria
  • Knowledge and experience in building management and analytical dashboards using Business Intelligence tools (ie. PowerBI)
  • Experience in benchmarking, KPI/metric, and/or performance management
  • Experience with Project Management tools (Primavera), an asset
  • Demonstrated capability to identify and implement productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting and challenging opportunity within TransAlta’s Information Technology team. Reporting to the Director, IT Business Office, the Senior IT Planning Analyst will be responsible for role supporting IT strategy and objectives through continuous quantitative and qualitative analyses of the IT organization and organizational goals. This role is responsible for creating a multi-year IT strategy and capital plan that aligns with the needs and strategies of the organization within a defined budget. The successful candidate will develop and maintain strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders and collaboratively find new ways to address strategic issues and prioritize new opportunities accordingly.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Assist in defining a multi-year IT project portfolio aligned to IT and business strategy including the financial impacts for support post-implementation for IT financial planning needs
  • Develop the financial impacts of strategic IT initiatives and translate those impacts for Long Range Planning activities.
  • Develop and implement strategies and business improvement initiatives, including performance measurement and analysis, with a strong focus on demand planning, engagement and change management activities
  • Manage IT and industry-related benchmarks to measure overall performance, maturity, and cost effectiveness
  • Provide timely and accurate periodic reporting such as actual performance versus planned
  • Oversee development of reporting dashboards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop resource planning model to assist IT leadership in managing resources needs
