Tasks

  • Proficient in all aspects of basic laboratory procedures and data collection, including ability to review laboratory results/data for general quality and consistency
  • Operate basic laboratory equipment (PCR machine, microtomes, tabletop centrifuge, etc.) and troubleshoot basic problems
  • Execute assignments according to established protocols
  • Review raw data for quality and consistency
  • Basic statistics evaluation and visual data presentation with Microsoft Excel
  • Convert measurements and prepare chemical solutions and buffers, as required
  • Manage concurrent tasks in varying stages of completion
  • Provide assistance, as needed, to junior team members
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebook tracking work as required
  • Work in a regulated GCP environment with a Laboratory Information and Management Software (LIMS)
  • Participate in general lab maintenance such as cleaning freezers, shared lab space and equipment, and stocking shared reagents and consumables
  • Participate in the establishment of new assays and devices as part of the validation process
  • Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the company interacts
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the company and its operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Completed vocational training as BTA/CTA/MTLA (or similar) with at least 5 years relevant work experience or bachelor´s degree in life sciences with educational laboratory experience with at least 5 years relevant work experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail and quality, both in actual laboratory practice and in documentation
  • Excellent laboratory skills, including proficiency in pipetting, documentation and procedure (clinical, sterile, or molecular, depending on the needs of the laboratory)
  • Experience converting measurements and preparing chemical solutions and buffers
  • Ability to understand protocols and perform protocols with consistency as demonstrated through previous laboratory experience
  • Basic experience or proficiency with laboratory equipment and laboratory analysis such as DNA/RNA extractions, PCRs, NGS, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English language
