POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Laboratory Technician aids in organising and supporting in a team of laboratory technicians and engineers, to prepare all lab jobs to proceed to test. The Senior Laboratory Technician will help facilitate the smooth daily running of the laboratory, performing testing to set schedules according to all the relevant processes and procedures from receiving to reporting. This includes communicating between departments, addressing issues, and keeping lab performances up to specification.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • A clear and demonstratable ability to handle working with people in multiple situations.
  • Operational control experience in a similar position of responsibility in a service lab with experience of testing medical devices.
  • Can communicate clearly and effectively with the laboratory department and between departments.
  • Promote team effectiveness to pursue a common goal of co-operation and trust.
  • Identify problems and provide solutions.
  • Display good IT skills and aid others in their use.
  • Excellent planner – both for themselves and the other laboratory employees.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES

Processing incoming jobs and/or products to a set schedule, utilising resources in the lab and working closely with the Customers to be responsible for delivering each project to a successful conclusion
Work with Sales and all relevant support departments and Customers to ensure that job brief is fully understood and documented on the work orders presented to the laboratory.
Aid in facilitating the work order once signed off by the Customer, including changes/updates during test.
Ensure all work in the laboratory is carried out in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice, ISO17025 accreditation requirements, internal procedures and in conjunction with the laboratory staff and under the direction of the laboratory senior management team
Aid in executing and perform laboratory testing while driving a culture of continuous improvement amongst the team

DUTIES - CONT’D

Maintain accurate and sufficiently detailed records of all tests performed. Ensuring all documentation meets Good Document Practice (GDP). Adhere to all company standards, policies, and procedures including health and safety requirements
Compiling, reviewing, updating, and improving reports. Report on relevant department KPIs.
Monitoring test outputs, including the review of chambers, and other reports from equipment.
Ensuring that the work environment is kept clean, tidy and in a manner fit for test, including line clearance.
