A Council South East of Melbourne CBD is looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to join their team for a 9 month contract.

  • 9 month contract/ full time hours
  • Start date May May 6th 2024 / End date Feb 7th 2025
  • Hybrid role
  • Hourly rate will depend on experience
  • Band 6
  • Project management of two play space projects in Landscape design team
  • Needs to have experiences of Council capital works landscape projects design and delivery, community engagement and tender evaluation

Key Responsibility Areas
» Prepare plans, policies, and documents to assist in the design and creation of attractive, meaningful, and responsive day-to-day, streetscape plans, precinct plans, recreational, open space and park planning projects as well as wider plans and policies that contribute to the positive physical image of Council.
» Provide the project management and administration of contracts with external consultants and contractors.
» Evaluate landscape plans for conformity with Council policies and requirements, with particular regard to design outcomes and species suitability as required.
» Undertake surveys and community participation exercises as directed.
» Demonstrate strong project concept development and presentation skills to effectively communicate and promote innovative project ideas to internal or external stakeholders.
» Report on landscape initiatives prepared by other planning authorities, as directed.
» Facilitate / organise community participation processes.
» Manage landscape design projects including the development of briefs, co-ordination of consultants and community liaison.
» Seek funding sources for landscape project opportunities in the City, as directed.
» Co-ordinate planning, design, tender, construction, fit out and defects stages of particular projects.
» Regularly evaluate projects in line with the available budget.
» Assist junior staff in design and development of projects.
» Through leadership and example promote Councils values of Dream Big, Empower Each Other and Make our Community Proud.
» Demonstrate unwavering commitment to Council’s endorsement of design
excellence by crafting innovative, creative, and thoughtful design proposals. Present these design ideas to internal stakeholders and, when necessary, to external design excellence panels.
